I am trying to build mod_jk on a SUN-SPARC with Solaris 8 machine. We have installed Apache 1.3.9 and perl5 from SUN CD and downloaded tomcat 3.2.1, which are running fine. When I use the following apxs command to compile mod_jk: /usr/apache/bin/apxs -o mod_jk.so -DSOLARIS -I../jk - I/usr/j2se/include -I/usr/j2se/include/solaris -c *.c ../jk/*.c I get the following error: Undefined first symbol referenced in file socket ../jk/jk_connect.o ap_pstrdup mod_jk.o ap_reset_timeout mod_jk.o ap_table_set mod_jk.o recv ../jk/jk_sockbuf.o dlclose    More>>

I am trying to build mod_jk on a SUN-SPARC with Solaris 8 machine. We have installed Apache 1.3.9 and perl5 from SUN CD and downloaded tomcat 3.2.1, which are running fine.
When I use the following apxs command to compile mod_jk:

/usr/apache/bin/apxs -o mod_jk.so -DSOLARIS -I../jk - I/usr/j2se/include -I/usr/j2se/include/solaris -c *.c ../jk/*.c
I get the following error:

Undefined first

in file
socket ../jk/jk_connect.o
ap_pstrdup mod_jk.o
ap_reset_timeout mod_jk.o
ap_table_set mod_jk.o
recv ../jk/jk_sockbuf.o
dlclose ../jk/jk_jni_worker.o
…
.
.
.
connect ../jk/jk_connect.o
ld: fatal: Symbol referencing errors. No output written to mod_jk.so
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
apxs:Break: Command failed with rc=65536

This is what part of my apxs file looks like:
$CFG_LDFLAGS_SHLIB = q( -fPIC -DSHARED_MODULE);
$CFG_LD_SHLIB = q(ld);
$CFG_LDFALGS_SHLIB = q( );

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Crenie.

I changed the following in the apxs file and mod_jk.so got created without any problem:
my $CFG_CFLAGS_SHLIB = q( -fPIC -DSHARED_MODULE);
my $CFG_LD_SHLIB = q(ld);
my $CFG_LDFLAGS_SHLIB = q(-G);
