JNDI and redundant LDAP servers

If I have two LDAP servers, and I try to bind using a domain format (LDAP://dc=domain,dc=com), JNDI picks one server and makes the connection. If that server is down, it doesn't appear to try other servers in that domain. If that server fails sometime after the bind, we also don't get any failover. Did I miss something, should this work better, or do I need to write code to test all of the LDAP servers and bind to one that is up and running, and do error-checking throughout my LDAP calls?

Thanks
Mark
