hidden menu

When I run my application the menu is hidden under other containers on the frame(it appears only when i do not have any other container on the frame).
My question is how do I make menus and menuitems appear irrespective of the number and position of other containers on the frame.
Please help.

You need to clarify your question.


You cannot directly display a java.awt.Menu on the screen.



  • If you mean a menubar, then (if it has been added properly) it is always displayed, and cannot be overlapped by regular components or containers.
  • If you mean a popupmenu, then you need to make sure you're handling the popupTrigger event properly. When it is shown, it overlaps all regular controls.
  • If you mean a Choice control (which isn't a menu at all) then you probably want to use a LayoutManager to ensure nothing is accidentally overlapping it.
