In the Fundamentals of the JavaMail API Short Course, in
msgsend.java, when constructing the MimeMessage
(around line 140, syntax: Message msg = new MimeMessage(session))
I am getting a null pointer exception. Any
clues as to what could be causing this to happen?

The msgsend program is not technically part of the JavaMail course. It is a demo that comes with the JavaMail API. You can try to check with Sun on what the specific problem you are having. It ran fine for me when I was putting the course together.
