For that size of device, a J2ME-CLDC product (such as Sun's KVM) is appropriate.
J2ME-CLDC is distinct from J2ME-CDC (and its older counterparts, EmbeddedJava and PersonalJava) in (at least) the following ways:
- CLDC is an order of magnitude smaller (a couple of hundred Kbytes, rather than a couple of Mbytes)
- CLDC doesn't have proper java classloading and securityManager features
- CLDC has a very limited set of Java APIS, whereas CLC has a pretty complete range of the core java2 apis
Typical CLDC implementations are written to run on platforms like PDAs and cellphones which have pretty minimal OS support.
