With Java Web Start, the Network Launching Protocol (JNLP) document allows for multiple jar references. Does JNLP perform a check on each jar's version separately before dedicding to run from cache or not?

That is what multiple jar files are for. One may assume that the local versions are compared in one run with the servers' and only those jars will be updated, that are needed.

There exists even the possibility to update jar files incrementally (parts), but that seems to "complex" for me.
