it's not that difficult. First, you pull apart the message into Parts. Each Part has a ContentType which can be examined. There are many ContentTypes, so I'm assuming you're intested in 'text/plain'. From here, you know that the ContentType is text, but it must be decoded from the given character set into UTF if you want to read it with Java. The ContentType will have a parameter called 'charset'. This will allow you to construct a reader with the correct character encoding. Now the text can be read from the reader as UTF.
