I'm reading through the Java tutorial on oracle. As I'm going through, I'm adding what I learn to a program that's supposed to be the demo for a game. I recently reached the packages section and tried adding package statements, but now the subclasses can't find the fields they inherit. I'm sure the name in the package statements is consistent, as I copied and pasted them.

The package statement:

package com.haliglond.demo;

The files are located in a series of folders to match the package name (com/haliglond/demo).

Can anyone explain to me what I got wrong?

you wrote "but now the subclasses can't find the fields they inherit." and this has probably nothing to do with packages, but with the access modifiers of the fields. perhaps you can post a small example of your code or give the link to get the classes.
