The problem may be caused because the connection is not closed since it is used last time, you should close the connection firstly.
It is really hard to say what may be the cause but, it comes when there is a very subtle mistake or there is some java exception which is bundled and displayed as general error.
you may find the problem step by step:
1. your connection is being made properly
2. the values you are trying to send match with database defined column types.
3. Also, if you see error logs to see if it was Java error e.g. a nullpointerexception for one of the values. That lead to a database general error.
If problem persists try using a preparedstatement then you'll be better suited to check if everything is being done well.
