Hey all, While maintaining and fixing some ant scripts, I noticed some very strange behaviour. I've created an ant task that executes a batch script, similar to the following: There are some quirks w/ ${INSTALl_DIR} E: estdir <-- this will work E: est (install)dir <-- this will work E: est(install)dir <-- this will not work, unless I single-quote the executable path. I understand why the ant script requires single quotes, but I don't understand why brackets and spaces in the path work while just brackets in the path do not.    More>>

Hey all,

While maintaining and fixing some ant scripts, I noticed some very strange behaviour.

I've created an ant task that executes a batch script, similar to the following:

There are some quirks w/ ${INSTALl_DIR}

E: estdir <-- this will work

E: est (install)dir <-- this will work

E: est(install)dir <-- this will not work, unless I single-quote the executable path.

I understand why the ant script requires single quotes, but I don't understand why brackets and spaces in the path work while just brackets in the path do not.
