I am trying to create a magnifying glass to be used to aid people with low vision navigate their desktop, but i do not know what is the best way to get the image straight off the screen to then be manipulated(ie changing colors,zoom etc.).is there any method that does this?

Caveman just want to re-invent wheel.... maybe make better one.....


A quick Google search provided a link to an applet that does that: Java Boutique: Our Lens Applet. Robert is right. Many desktops supply that functionality...

Most desktop operating systems provide that sort of functionality already, so it begs the question why you need to reinvent that particular wheel?
