I'm unclear from your question why you're looking at JAI... from the description, its an image manipulation API, which won't do much for transferring the image between two computers. But you haven't given much other information about what you are really needing to do ... "transferring an image" encompasses a little bit too much ground to offer opinions about. This just leaves me to ask: why not setup something like an http server and let the clients request it that way?
