Hi,

Im developing a web application for weblogic 8.1.

I have a number of jsp forms which the user can use for creating and updating records in the database. When the user performs any of these actions I need to send an email alert to an email address stored in the database.

How would I go about doing this? Can I configure the mail server in web.xml for example? Are there any standard java classes available to use?

This stuff is fairly new to me so apologies for the vagueness of the question.

Thanks,

Tommy

that is what JavaMail for.

there is no need to set things in web.xml, but you must access to a mail server, using a proper url..., and have JavaMail jar files in you classpath.

most of J2EE 1.4 books have some content about JavaMail, go and seek them.
