RMI Server and client communication is not happening when the client behind the firewall.

i have made some changes to make server & client communication ( through RMI HTTP tunneling).

java.rmi.server.hostname set to public ip address of the host where the RMI server running.

because of the above change, local RMI server communication with other RMI server is not happening (RMI Direct call). the reason is public ip addess is set to java.rmi.server.hostname.

Please any one give some solution, so that the RMI application can understand the RMI Direct call & RMI HTTP tunneling call.

This is probably the most frequently asked question in RMI. There is no set answer. Your best bet is to search the Sun Forum for 'firewall' since every configuration is different. Sometimes you do this and it works. Sometimes you do that and it works.

Try this link for a tutorial. It's old but it can get you started: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/docs/guide/rmi/spec/rmi-arch6.html
