To delete a project clearly

Once I create a new project, I find it can not be delete clearly.
For instance, if I create a new project "p1", I deleted it from windows explore. Even I deleted the whole folder of p1. After that I would create a new project named "p1", the window warning me "this project existing",etc.
How to treat it?

Eclipse stores stuff in the ".metadata" about the current projects in the workspace, that's probably your problem. (under "plugins", search for occurrences of your deleted project's name)
