I have a situation where 2 different applications are using the same Weblogic instance. But I want to have different log files for both the applications. Can you tell me how can I do this?

It should be OK, as long as you have a copy of the log4j jar file in both web applications' WEB-INF/lib directories, and as long as the weblogic admin console has "Prefer Web-Inf" checked for both applications.

Basically the log4j properties are in static fields in the class, so you get one set of them per class loader, so you need to make sure you have 2 separate class loaders for the web applications, and WebLogic sometimes violates the J2EE specs in this regard.
