1) How the Map is related with Collection framework? as far i know Map is not a collection because it does not extend any collection interface but it comes under Collection framework? so, can we say Map is a collection?

2) can somebody tell me Why sun people has created new collection framework and restructured all the classes and interfaces since they had already old one.

1- Who said that all classes and interfaces of Collection Framework must be inherited from java.util.Collection? Well all the Collections, Maps ... are parts of Collection Framework.

And don't forget you can access to a java.util.Collection of java.util.Map.Entrys using any java.util.Map.

2- Just to support the Generics! which is added to Java 5

1) Map is part of the Collection framework because it *IS* a collection interface. It holds a number of objects in a special way. (KV-pairs...)

2) That's called progress :)
