Lucene hangs on specific query

Hi everybody.

We use lucene in production environment (with Tomcat 5.0, Sun JDK 1.4.2 and FreeBSD 5.4)



We encountered strange behaviour of lucene on specific queries. Sometimes when we serch for some keyword in indexed field it seems that search goes into a loop (no reponse from server). But when index got updated, the same query performs very fast.



Has anybody faced such problem?

If the JVM is hanging, kill it, get a thread dump, and see where it's locked up. I also suggest moving to 1.5 JVM, it's significantly faster and more stable.
