tools.jar not found?

I just installed the latest ant build with the latest Java jdk/jre. when I try and run ant it says this:

"Unable to locate tools.jar. Expected to find it in C:Program FilesJavajre1.5.0_06lib ools.jar"

In that directory sits a bunch of Java stuff but the tools.jar is not there.

not sure whats going on, I've used this before but this was unexpected. anyone know whats up?

You've installed the JRE instead the JDK. The runtime environment doesnt contain the compiler stuff.

No, that is fairly strange. I imagine you've tried re-installing the JDK? Personally I've had no problems with 1.5.0_06 sun jdk and 1.6.5 apache ant. (Have you defined the "JAVA_HOME" environment variable and pointed it at the base of your JDK install directory?)
