Re: how to give security to software?

The vagueness of your question forces some assumptions. If two machines are on a network, you can have the software (or some other standalone piece of software) communicate via network traffic (broadcast TCP for example) to coordinate the fact that some given software key is/has been used. Of course, if the two machines are not on a network together this won't work. In that case, you may need a product activation scheme. (The installer creates a magic sequence of numbers that will be the same on that machine and yet different across machines... plus it needs to be different across upgrade versions; then the customer phones in that magic sequence to get a corresponding sequence of numbers to type in. The application refuses to install/run if those sequences don't match up.) You'll need to further research details. Google can probably help with this more than this forum.
