MySql Driver

I want to use JSP and MySql.



Problem : Everything is installed, userDSN created. But whenever i try to access the DB i get the error "java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.mysql.jdbc.Driver " where as I have dwnloaded the "mysql-connector-java-3.2.0-alpha" driver, and have created a clas path to the JAR file that I got in it. But stil lthe same error.




Pls help!

If you setup a DSN, you can only use ODBC to connect. No special driver needed. However, if you decide to use the MySQL driver, you don't need a DSN. The JAR is usually placed in the classpath of your appserver. Generally in the form of common/lib or something similar... Check your appserver docs for that path.

Besides the jar-problems, if you create a DSN, you can just use ODBC instead of the actual driver. If you use the driver, the jar should be in the classpath of the applicationserver. Generally, it would be in some sort of common/lib directory...
