Publishing router slowdown

Good day!

We have been experiencing slowdown on a router that is publishing messages whenever we have many remote client subscriptions (non-durable) to the same topic on the router. I would say when we get 10 to 15 remote subscriptions that the problem starts to occur. Message transmission times can be up to 20 seconds or more whenever this situation happens. Do you know of anything that could be the cause of the problem? We are currently running version 5.1.0 of the router (ours is 5.0.3 with the patch installed). Thanks.

I guess that pub/sub flow control jumps in. It slows down your publisher if one of your subscribers reaches the flow control start queue size of the subscriber queue which is 400 messages by default.

You can solve it in the following ways:

  • increase the flow control start queue size for all temp queues in the resp. Queue Controller (controller "01"); look here

  • disable pub/sub flow control but keep in mind that your router might run out of memory then; you can disable it under Topic Manager Swiftlet, attribĂște flowcontrol-enabled="false"

  • disable flow control and define a slow subscriber condition as described here; it requires SwiftMQ 5.2.0 at least
