This is a web project. I invalidate a session at one particular point of time. Later when I get the session and then validate it by comparing to null, it still returns me a session object. Why so ? And what else is the way to check if a session is valid or invalid ?

Invalidating a session does not make it null. It just "invalidates" it, and releases all bindings with attributes/objects.

A client always returns a session. On his virst visit, you can check if this session is new, by using session.isNew();.
