get a base64 encoded string from a byte array

I have a byte array as a result of a Cipher encryption which I now wish to convert to a base64 string. I can't find any simple way of doing this - does anyone have any ideas?

Well, you could get the Base64 specifications and implement them yourself - for the fun of it.

Or else you could use one of the public domain implementations. I've been using Robert Harder's throughout, never having had to complain about it.
