We have several thousands of messages stuck in a queue. There are several JMS consumer attached to the queue, but none of the consumer is able to receive message from the queue. I've even try to use explorer GUI to view the messages in the queue, but it would simply hang.

There are no relavant error or warning messages in the log files.

Unfortunately, I can not shutdown the queue because they are set to non-persistent. However, I can see the swap files created for the queue under the swap folder. Is there a way to recover those messages in the queue? At least the ones in swap file? Thanks in advance.

Swap files will be deleted during startup so there is no way to recover non-persistent messages.

Could you post a thread dump of the router (kill -3 on Unix) to see why it hangs?
