Hi

I'm working with Informix 9.4 (installed on my XP) and
RATIONAL APPLICATION DEVELOPER v6.0

The DB I'm working with is with locale iw_il.8859-8

In my java program (servlet) I get a string from a char()
field (str1 = rs.getString(1))

Then I create another string (str2 = new String("xxx")).

When I try to check if the strings are equal (i.e.
str1.equals(str2) – I get false.

When I print both strings (with System.out) I see both
contain the same string ("xxx"), but I figure that the
encoding is different.

I would like to know what is the charset of the string
that comes from the ResultSet and how can I convert it
to be equal to the string that I created.

Thanks

Rivka
