I store files in MySQL BLOB's for my online application. All uploading and downloading works fine. As I am fairly new to working with BLOB's I am unaware of the best way to retreive fileinformation of the stored BLOB. I wish to retreive what type of file it is, and if it is an image, what size it is. Is there a JDBC way of achieving this, or do I need to write the BLOB to a different JAVA object before I can read it. If so, what would be the best way of doing this?
