I am trying to use the xmlvalidate task within ant 1.6.2. When trying to use it: description="validates project xml files"> dir="/etc/sgml" includes="**/catalog"/> I get the proverbial: validate: BUILD FAILED ../workspace/demo/build.xml:114: Could not create task or type of type: xmlvalidate. In looking thru the ant documentation, I don't see xmlvalidate mentioned in the list of library dependencies. I guess I am missing a .jar somewhere, but I found nothing via Google on this... I am trying to use the xmlvalidate task within ant 1.6.2.

When trying to use it:

description="validates project xml files">

dir="/etc/sgml"
includes="**/catalog"/>

I get the proverbial:

validate:

BUILD FAILED
../workspace/demo/build.xml:114: Could not create task or type of type: xmlvalidate.

In looking thru the ant documentation, I don't see xmlvalidate mentioned in the list of library dependencies. I guess I am missing a .jar somewhere, but I found nothing via Google on this...

What .jar does ant want, or what silly thing am I doing wrong??

Include the ant-nodeps.jar in the classpath, it should work.

I have just installed

Apache Ant version 1.6.2 compiled on July 16 2004

Apparently it has included. I did not have to install it separately.

The manual to xmlvalidate has a separate page for xmlcatalog. There is written that need the resolver.jar for that nested element.

Did you try running ant -v to get more verbose output?
