Is there any inbuilt tool which can version the files(dll, jar) which are created in every build ?

Say, I have 10 source files, initially i build all 10 files and version all the binaries, then i make change only in 2 source files, i have the logic to build only these two, but is there any tool which can update the version of only the new binaries built?

Using SCM tool for versioning is understandable. But I wanted to know if there is some way to embedd the version for the files which are getting built using ANT.

Ant is not a source code versioning tool. There are some you can use with Ant (cvs, synergy, perforce, ...)

Ant tasks (should) have a dependency check - they┬┤re working only on changed resources. E.g. creates a dir if it not already exists, copies only if the dest-file is not up to date.

Your versioning would be done using a SCM tool. The logic to build only the changed files is build in to Ant - just use the tasks as normal.
