Hi All,

I know this sounds like a basic question however, We are looking at Tomcat 5.0.28 serving dynamic content and IBM HTTP Server 2 serving static content in our production environment and wanted to know if you need to re-start the Tomcat Server as and when you re-deploy an existing application, has anyone had issues where the new code is not served until the cache is deleted and the Tomcat Server is restarted. Many thanks for your help.

Deploying a new war file to Tomcat should not require a restart.

Tomcat as well as Resin update automatically.
In fact, they unpack any new uploads.
Should you overwrite an upload with a newer version, this results in Tomcat overwriting as well, when unpacking.

My 2c.

Isn't cache related to browser and memory?
Try loading the start page of your webapp, to start a new session.
