I use SuSE Linux Enterprise server 9. My Orion server 2.0 is housed in this Linux server. The apps on Orion work fine UNTIL I do an ftp into or out of the Linux box. This kills the java process running Orion server. Happens right when I invoke WSCP and connect to server to sftp in or try an ftp out of the linux box.

I am baffled (well even minor things baffle me;) but this really IS baffling) Where should I be looking and what should I be thinking of, to stop my java process running the server from getting whacked when somebody invokes ftp into or out of this Linux box?

Usage of "nohup" to start jvm as in "nohup java -jar orion.jar" solved this issue for me.

Sounds like your FTP client is probably using one of the ports allocated to your app server and the data sent by the FTP client is then probably confusing the app server. Have you checked the log files for your app server?

Regards.
