The main difference is just in look, that's it. 'coz, jsp and servlet both can perform the things whichever u want but, there's much difference in the performance of jsp n servlet.
jsp is best performable in presenting the task and if the application has to go with much performance part (for ex. coding) of task and less presentation part then jsp would be less successful to perform the thing.
N with the case of servlets they would be much useful in the performance of the task rather than presenting the task.
On the whole, we can say the difference as the jsp is best to present the things for the client and servlets are best for performing the task for the client.(anyway they both can do presentation n performance of tasks but differ in the quality of the result.) That's it, thank u, bye.

Hi Vishal,

The major practical difference between servlets and JSP
pages is that servlets are provided in compiled form and
JSP pages are often not (although pre-compilation is
possible).

Hence, servlet files are held in the private resources
section of the server, while JSP files are mixed in with
static HTML pages, images, and other resources in the
public section.

A servlet can be executed directly, while a JSP is first
compiled into a servlet and then executed. So, servlets
are faster than JSPs.

Also, servlets must be used when u want a logic intensive
application while JSPs are used when the application is
design-intensive.

Hope this Helps...

Cheers !!

Sherbir
