problem discription!

pls refer to following code snipet

			String abc="ú{êÌíÞ";
			

			Charset charset = Charset.forName("SJIS");
			

			ByteBuffer bb=ByteBuffer.wrap(abc.getBytes());
			

			String str=new String(charset.decode(bb).toString());
			

			JLabel label= new JLabel(str);
			

			getContentPane().add(label);

but when this code executes it shows boxes in applet
Any one know how do I dispay japanese character on english as well as japanese system

Your code is OK and works for me. Says something like "nihongo no" and then some Kanji I don't recognise. If you are running Windows and seeing boxes this means that you don't have the required Japanese font loaded on your PC. If you install Japanese as an input locale on your PC this should install the required fonts which I believe are MS Gothic, MS Mincho, MS PGothic and MS PMincho.
