ppt files in linux are opening appropriately in InternetExplorer,but ppt files in windows are not opening appropriately.why?

Files types like *.ppt,*.xls in linux are opening appropriately in Internet Explorer.But these are opening approriately in Windows Platform.why this is happening.Thanks in advance.
