Why JSP is generally not used as a controller in MVC ?

What are disadvantages of it's use over Servlets ?
Can any body please
help me on this ?

jsps should be used primarily as view (and as little as possible controller). jsp's primary function is programatically rendering html and apart from this are very similar to servlets. infact they are servlets. as jsps are coupled with display logic they cannot be de-coupled from the view portion of MVC. because of this, it's recommended that controller logic is handled as little as possible by jsps as separation is a valuable commodity and by putting controller logic in a jsp you are doing away with separation. anyway, other ppl have explained it much better then i can.
