Hi, We are facing problems with installation/configuration on Widows 98. We have set the memory for startup.bat and shutdown.bat to 4096 (we have also tried with other values). Doing this, the problem of "Out of Environment Space" has been solved and Tomcat is starting up and shutting down successfully. Hi,

We are facing problems with installation/configuration on Widows 98. We have set the memory for startup.bat and shutdown.bat to 4096 (we have also tried with other values). Doing this, the problem of "Out of Environment Space" has been solved and Tomcat is starting up and shutting down successfully. However, when we try to go to the homepage (http://localhost/), instead of showing the homepage it is showing the root directory listing which includes index.jsp. When we go to the homepage eventually, by clicking index.jsp from the directory listing, a lot of problems crop up:

1. the tomcat.gif image is not displayed on the upper left-hand side, but other images are being displayed.

2. When we try to access JSP/Servelet examples from the links on the homepage, an error message is displayed which shows that http is unable to access the resources (viz. /examples/jsp) which is error 404 of http. Please note that the said resources are very much present and can be accessed ordinarily (following the directory path) without using http.

Please note that there is no collision of port nos. with other processes running in the system (we have experimented with different port nos.)

We would be extremely grateful if someone could help us get around these problems as soon as possible.

Thanking you,

Yours sincerely,

Kalyan Das
