Hi

My question is the following:
Is it possible to programatically shutdown a Servlet container?

Basically I implement a set of servlet listener that setup a few things during container startup - if something goes wrong at this stage, I simply want to log a FATAL error message and basically SHUTOWN the container so the error is not overlooked by operators.

Thanks!

Tomcat provides this functionality.

Tomcat listens on predefined port configured through
WEB.inf

shutdown="SHUTDOWN"
debug="0">

This means that the server
will shut down if you connect to port 8005 and send the text SHUTDOWN.
