How can I make to run RMI based Applets on most IEs? I'm writing a RMI based Applet chat client connecting to a RMI chat Server. The problem is the client applet can't run on most IE browsers. It's OK with other Mozilla, NetScape 'n some of IE. With appletviewer, I can grant permissions with policy file. But I don't know how to make permissions for IE 'n how to use policy file for this. (I've seen some applets have Security Permission Dialog to grant on load.) ** Please...How to ?? [Thanks...]    More>>

How can I make to run RMI based Applets on most IEs?



I'm writing a RMI based Applet chat client connecting to a RMI chat Server.

The problem is the client applet can't run on most IE browsers.
It's OK with other Mozilla, NetScape 'n some of IE.
With appletviewer, I can grant permissions with policy file.
But I don't know how to make permissions for IE 'n how to use policy file for this.

MS's Java implementation is quite old and probably doesn't do RMI in the prescribed way.

I suggest installing someone else's JRE and browser plugins in IE.
