Why do we define Entity Bean class as Abstract?

Hi, we normally define Entity Bean Class as Abstract. The Only reason I can see so they can not be instantiated. Is there any other reason?

Since, there are abstract methods.

Those getter setting mapped to database table column is abstract, they are implemented by contrainer.

Those are not compoment methods.
