Please instruct me the way to access a file residing in a remote machine which is connected through internet, randomly. given its url

I also don't believe this is directly possible unless you either:


  • Open the file and copy it to your local machine so that normal random IO will work

  • Write some sort of server that runs on the remote machine






You need SOME software running on the remote machine that's going to serve you the file. If you have a URL, then I presume you expect a web server (Apache for instance) to feed the file to you. But the web server is going to send you the entire file -- they don't give you an opened file handle or anything weird like that.

Posting the same question over and again on different forums is unlikely to elicit the response you are expecting. By my count you posted this question in two different forums yesterday. Might I suggest that you desist.
