Hi Ezhil

It is possible in J2ME. The thing is many phones dont
support it fully. I tried TCP/IP connection in Nokia
Emulator, but the gateway simulator is supporting only
UDP based connections.J2ME toolkit supports all the
features. My friend has done a project titled "Linux
administration thru Mobiles " Which has a facility to
use telnet(req TCP/IP connection) remotely from mobiles.

the answer is much more simple than the question:
with MIDP 1.0 it is not possible. the 2.0 version includes particular classes and methods to have it done, but with 1.0 you only can establish HTTP connections.

Some manufacturer have developped their own way to solve the problem... here they are:

Motorola Accompli A008
Motorola i50sx / i55sr / i85s
Motorola i95cl
Motorola T720i
Nokia Communicator 9210
Nokia Communicator 9290
Samsung SGH-S100
Samsung SPH-A500
Sanyo SCP-4900
Sanyo SCP-5300
Siemens C50
Siemens C55
Siemens M46
Siemens M50 / MT50
Siemens SL45i / i6688i
Sony Ericsson P800

hope I've been helpful,
rik.
