Why JavaMail object are not serializable?

I tried to write Message and other objects in a file, and read them but found out that they are not Serializable. Why? Was it so difficult to implement?

If they involve dynamic state in addition to just the static data, e.g. anything about a server connection/session involved, then that's why.


e.g. the JavaDoc for Message mentions

...A Message object obtained from a folder is just a lightweight reference to the actual message...
