I am developing SMS2EMail and EMail2SMS application for around 2 million GSM subscribers. The problem is I have to send alerts as SMS to every subscriber as soon as they receive any new mail. So I am finding out a feasible solution to monitor the mailboxes for all subscribers.
Or if there is any other technique to accomplish this task.

Perhaps it would be more efficient to have the notifications generated by the process that does the actual local delivery to a mailbox, rather than wasting the extra time+resources polling endlessly.
