@ sign error in xslt

i have a xml as shown 

			

			

			<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
			

			

			x@y.com



when i run java & xslt on this to print the email output i get is just x and not the rest of the email address. Basically its breaking on the & # 64 ; symbol. ( which is for @ sign)
Anyone has faced this problem before.
I m using xalan.

you simply put email contents in CDATA section
the following code should work

i used normalize function. it works for all special characters.
