I want to have some recommendations on some good java books for Java 1.4 Certification Exam to help me for preparing to pass the exam.

Go for Kathy Bates book published by Osbourne
"Java Sun Certified Programmer" (or something like that)
You'll find it on Amazon, I'm preparing for taking (and passing) the programmer exam with this book, and it's really good.
