When a jsp page is compiled into a servlet... why cann't it be used as a controller in MVC architecture? Why servlet is preferred for that..?

I think is simpler to code a 'pure logic' module like a controller in a MVS pattern using servlets that coding it using JSP (more oriented to to presentation)...
Using Web.xml, you also can configure initilization parameters, mappings, filters etc...Each JSP Container implementations defines (following the specification guidelines) how this JSP will be compiled (name of the servlet, package, etc...) so, it seems that it makes hard to code an application that can be easyly deplyed in different container implementations.
