Hello everyone!

its for the first time that i am using Swing. I am working on a project and i am not sure whether the following can be achieved using JTables

on a single row, the user enters some data say in first 4 cols. and then some calculations are done using methods and the outputs are to be displayed in the same row but in different cols. can this be achieved using JTables

also the input cols. are editable and the output cols. are not..can this be achieved ?

The short answer is yes. I would suggest you start with getting
familiar with Swing. Take a look at Creating a GUI with JFC/Swing on Sun's web site. Then
take a look at some of the documentation/examples on the web for JTable. You can get a good start with How to Use Tables. Once you have a basic program (correct # of rows/columns), you can go on to making the first 4 columns editable and
the 5th non-editable and add the logic for calculating the 5th column each time the value of one of the first 4 columns is changed in the
table model.

I think you will find that JTable. is exteremly flexible and
fairly easy to use.
