Dear Experts,

I develop a web-application which uses swing controls.
So i needs java-plugin1.4 to run in a browser.

I have to detect whether Java-Plugin 1.4 has been installed in the client machine and if not, i have to redirect to Sun's java-plugin download url

Help me to achieve this.

Thank you.

It is pretty easy and straight forward to do this in Netscape.
Just use...

var pluginArray = navigator.plugins;
if(pluginArray["Java Plug-in"])
{
javaPlugin = pluginArray["Java Plug-in"].description;
javaPlugin = javaPlugin.split(" ");
javaPluginVersion = parseFloat(javaPlugin[2]);
alert("javaPluginVersion:"+javaPluginVersion)
}
. But however it is not possible in IE. You need to put a little applet to check for this in IE.
See this article in JDC forum (click here) for more details.
