Hi. I'm working on these things, too.
It is relatively unimportant where you put the .soo/.dll files. Only the native code and the header file need to appear in the same directory which has to be normally above the package in which you are using the implementation.
You can add the path where your library is situated to a Env Variable called LD_LIBRARY_PATH (UNIX) and everything works fine. In Windows it should be just PATH. If this does not work (I'm quiet sure it will work) you can also load your library manually. You should use
at the moment. Using
you can load it without making your system search for it.
