I'm just getting through my crash course in JNDI myself (2 days at work, learning everything that would normally be taught over a yearlong JNDI Programming course :-)
Are you talking about just using the JNDI API? Or some LDAP-specific API? Once you get a JNDI InitialContext, or any other JNDI Context including e.g. a DirectoryContext for LDAP, you can list() the contents, is that what you mean? which presumably (?) includes other Contexts therein?
(in fact I had to figure out how to do this for an InitialContext yesterday, not for a DirectoryContext though, so I could debug and see what was actually there, compared to what the sample code expected to be there...)
But you do have to choose a way in your JNDI client, of getting the InitialContext in the first place....
